French Bronze Antique Medallion Signed

A large bronze wall medallion or plaque, this beautiful piece depicts a lovely young French woman in profile, wearing a lacey cap over her long curls and a long hoop in her ear. At the base of the cap is a nosegay of flowers. The portrait is in high bas relief and is signed at lower right in raised script "A. Felis" (if we're reading it correctly).

Cast in the late 1800's, the age-darkened patina gives the piece a wonderful antique appearance. The medallion measures approximately 12 inches top to bottom and 10 inches wide. Weighing 2 pounds, 6 ounces, it's in excellent condition. There are no cracks or chips; there is a tiny dent in the upper rim and the reverse side is quite rough to the touch.

There is a hanger welded near the top of the reverse side so you can hang this on the wall as well as prop it on a small easel. This antique plaque looks lovely in a grouping or alone as a focal point.
