Vintage Pottery Vase Hand Painted Walrus Alaska Art

This interesting pottery beaker vase was made in the 1960's or so, following the excitement over Alaska achieving statehood in 1959. Made of a brown clay with a grayish off-white glaze, it sports a hand-painted line drawing of a walrus, done in brown. The bottom of the vase is unglazed and is hand lettered with "MADE IN USA " with the number 12. It's similar to the pottery by Bering Sea Originals, though their hand painted scenes are in black. Standing 6 1/2 inches tall, about 3 inches across at the shoulder, it weighs 12 ounces and is in excellent condition, with no damage or wear. It's a great piece to give someone interested in Alaska and/or its wildlife.
