The word "halcyon" means "a happy, peaceful period in the past." Halcyon Days enameled trinket boxes, made in Bilston, Staffordshire, England, hark back to the Bilston and Battersea enameled boxes made in the 18th century. Founded in 1950, Halcyon Days Ltd. holds all three Royal Warrants to the British Royal Household as Suppliers of objets d'art – one of only 14 businesses to hold all three. The firm began making enameled boxes in 1970. The lid of this very small box is decorated with a hand-colored woodland scene with trees, flowers and a stream. The lid simply lifts off and is inscribed with "Good Luck" in black script. The sides are a pretty robin's egg blue that continues onto the bottom, which is printed with the black Halcyon Days/Bilston and Battersea mark. The interior of the copper trinket box is white enamel. Please note that due to lighting, the metal areas can look darkened and/or tarnished, but they are bright and shiny in person. Measuring 1 inches wide across the lid, the box is 5/8 inch high to the top of the slightly domed lid and weighs under 1 ounce. It is nestled in dark blue velvet in its original 2 7/8 inch square blue box, along with its descriptive paper pamphlet titled "Certificate of Origin." Everything is in very good condition, with slight wear to the pasteboard box the only sign of use. This beautiful small box is a thoughtful gift to send your good wishes.
