OVERVIEW
- Vintage item
This fused and dichroic glass dish, shaped and decorated like the face of a lovely young lady, is a one of a kind, hand made artwork. The head itself is a clear brown with tiny bubbles that give it a wavy appearance when held to the light. Her eyes and eyebrows are formed of glittery teal slashes, while the collar of beads around her neck are bits of dichroic glass in gold and pale green. Her swoop of hair is white with a distinct pale blue tinge, topped with silvery glass squiggles that reflect the light. As you can see by the photos, the glass colors change depending on the surface the dish is placed on and the surrounding lighting.
In excellent condition, with no visible wear, this beautiful studio art glass piece weighs 11 ounces. It measures 7 inches across at the widest point and 8 inches from the top of the head to the tip of the neck. It's hand signed on the underside "Zagha." We have seen one other piece with the same signature, a dichroic glass necklace and earrings set. We believe that this was made by a glass artist named Lois Zagha Maddix, who lived in West Virginia until her death in 1997 (her son, Nye Maddix was a glass artist, also.) Definitely made by a talented artist, this gal is a pleasure to own.
