Monroe Salt Works was a pottery located in rural Monroe, Maine that was started by Ron Garfinkel in 1972. Their salt glazed pottery was handmade, so no two pieces were exactly the same. The pieces are lead-free and due to the firing process used, are also extremely chip resistant. The pottery production lasted 33 years and MSW's wares are already becoming scarce.

This vase with its interesting shape features a gorgeous rainbow trout in the midst of underwater grasses. The background color is a speckled tan with an orange peel texture. The round upper rim is cobalt blue; the bottom two-thirds is composed of 8 flat panels ending in a round base. The typical Monroe Salt Works stamp on the base did not get completely impressed and reads only "Monroe Work Maine."

This handsome vase stands 7 3/4 inches tall, with the mouth opening measuring 2 3/4 inches and the base 2 1/2 inches in diameter. It weighs 1 1/2 pounds and is in excellent condition, really looks like it was never used.

Just perfect for adding to your collection, decorating your cabin or pleasing someone who loves fish and/or fishing!
