This antique china bowl was made by the firm of Unger and Schilde in Thuringia, Germany. A very pretty piece with an embossed, scalloped rim and baby blue trim, it was made between 1909 and 1916. The 4 inch diameter transfer print in the bottom depicts the ocean, sky, clouds, rocks and a sailboat.
The mark on the bottom is composed of three crowns in the center and the words “THREE CROWN CHINA GERMANY” encircling them, all in green. Unger and Schilde used this mark on china they exported from 1909 to 1916 to Jon H. Roth & Co. (JonRoth), a distributor located in South Bend, Indiana. The bowl is 8 inches in diameter and about 2 inches high. It’s in excellent shape, with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is very minor paint loss to the transfer print.
This antique china bowl looks lovely with other fine china pieces and is also a great mixer with other beachy collectibles.
