Quimper French Country Dishes

Henriot

Item number: PYH 5641

This cheerful trio of French country dishes were made by the factory in Quimper that's generally known as "Henriot." Made during the years 1922-1968, their primary color is "soleil yellow," soleil being the word in French for sun. Each hand-painted dish has a yellow scalloped edge with the rim being piped in orange, painted with cobalt blue bands and flowers. Two of them are identical; the third one has a different, though very similar, flower in the center and different dot clusters.

Each footed dish measures 7 inches in diameter and each weighs 8 to 9 ounces. There are no chips or cracks, but the undersides have digs and dings from the kiln. Although they have depressions in the center that can hold a cup, technically making them saucers, they are large enough to use as small serving dishes. They also look great on a shelf or on the wall.
