Hutschenreuther Porcelain Antique Bavarian Plate - Hand Painted - Signed and Dated 1911

This beautiful cabinet plate from famed Hutschenreuther Porcelain in Bavaria is hand painted with ethereal pale peach poppies. The background is a lovely pale green, with the leaves and stems in a darker shade of the same color. The plate is rimmed in gold, footed and measures 7 3/4 inches in diameter and 7/8 inch high.

This was a lovely wedding gift from one couple to another. There are several inscriptions and a mark on the reverse. The printed green mark is an HR in a circle, with JOSEPHINE curved above and BAVARIA below. Hutschenreuther began using this mark about 1890 on blanks that they exported for china decorating. Hand lettered in gold in the center is "From Mr. and Mrs. Hawley F. Scott." Above the green mark, the last names of the couple getting married and the date: Saile--Hint, March 4, 1911. The plate is in excellent condition, showing virtually no wear. It has obviously been protected and treasured over the past 100+ years.
