A gorgeous piece of antique Limoges porcelain, this plate was imported by the firm of George Borgfeldt & Company in New York during the years 1906 to 1920. Expertly decorated with yellow dahlias and their foliage, the design is Art Nouveau in style, with sinuous lines of green outlined in gold, the flowers a favorite nature theme of the era. The artist's brush strokes can be seen and felt on the plate and it's hand signed "Albers" just below the dahlia on the right.

There are two marks in green on the reverse; the smaller one has the words LIMOGES FRANCE circling a star. This is the mark of one of the dozens of Limoges factories, as yet unidentified. The larger mark is Borgfeldt's CORONET backstamp with a crown (or coronet) that also has the words LIMOGES FRANCE. This is a double confirmation that the plate was both made and decorated in Limoges.

This dish measures approximately 7 1/2 inches across and about 3/4 inch high at the gilded rim. The plate is in spectacular condition, with literally no wear that we could discern. The colors are bright and fresh; the plate has obviously been in a china cabinet for the last century, protected and cherished. Now, it can be your turn.
