This framed, limited edition print is a beautiful example of the current indigenous art of Australia. Created by listed Aborigine printmaker Doris Gingingara (1946-1999), the artwork focuses on a crow, a very special bird to Aborigines, guarding eggs in its nest. Her use of black and white tempered with shades of ochre produced this piece that gives a modern look to an ancient traditional Aboriginal theme, part of the set of beliefs Aborigines call "The Dreaming," which for centuries were drawn on the ground or on tree bark. Doris Gingingara preferred to use ink marker pens on paper to create her works; she also made silkscreens. Her artworks are in many collections and museums, such as The National Gallery of Australia in Canberra. That's her in the last photo.
