Beautifully formed and painted, this sandstone pottery sculpture of a loon is one of the handsomest ones we've had to offer. Highly detailed feathers, including the tail feathers, dramatic large eyes and a long slender bill display the artist Mateo Tostado's talents and his choice of deep cobalt blue makes this bird really stand out. The hand made pottery piece is signed on the bottom in black script: MEXICO MATEOS TOSTADO.
Weighing 1 1/2 pounds, this Mexican folk pottery loon measures 10 inches long from tail to bill, 5 1/2 inches tall to the top of the head and about 4 inches at the widest part of the body. It's in excellent condition, just waiting to be added to your hacienda.
