This pair of complementary, but not identical, art pottery bowls were created by studio potter Bev Jones. The amorphous bodies of heavy, yet beautifully thin, clay are incised with leafy branches on the insides of the bowls and have wonderful, irregularly-shaped rims. Their undersides are impressed with repeating designs, solely around the rim on the large bowl and all over on the smaller one. The bottoms look like rounded rocks, each sitting on three "branch" legs that are decorated with a "seashell" at each end. The glaze is a delicious high gloss, speckled greenish-brown that appears to have flowed over the biomorphic forms. The amount of attention and detail that went into these pieces is impressive and the overall effect is that the bowls grew from nature and not from human hands.

The larger of the two bowls is more oval and measures 10 1/2 inches across at the widest, 10 inches at the narrower side and is about 4 inches high. It weighs 2 3/4 pounds. The smaller bowl is about 8 1/2 to 9 inches across and is also about 4 inches high; its weight is almost 2 1/2 pounds. Both are impressed on the bottom with the date "June 1992," the name "Bev Jones" and her initials "bj." As you can see in our photos, they can be nested one in the other or displayed separately. Both bowls are in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or fleabites, and provide natural rustic elegance anywhere in your home.
