This beautiful hand painted porcelain plate was made by the firm of Moritz Zdekauer in Austria, which produced fine china from 1884 to 1909. The pure white porcelain, in an unusual twelve sided shape, was hand painted with lovely pink roses on a shaded pale green background and rimmed with gold. The artist signed her work on the reverse, O. Mangl. The green printed mark is a double headed eagle crowned with an orb and a cross, with MZ above and AUSTRIA below.
The plate measures 7 1/2 inches across and stands 7/8 inch high on its round foot. It was undoubtedly a cabinet plate, since it's in such excellent condition, with just minor wear to the gilt edges. It's a pretty hand painted antique plate for display or for a thoughtful gift.
