We've always gotten a kick out of paint by number oil paintings, with their professional draftsmanship and amateur paint jobs, but we were especially attracted to this one. It's not often we find a still life--most of them have nature, landscape or animal motifs. The colors are spot on for the date on the lower right, 1261, which of course may be January 2, 1961 or December 1961--your choice. We love that it was painted and signed by "MOM." There is a lot going on in this painting: the brown jug filled with poppies and what may possibly be Canadian anemone; the artfully draped white linen napkin; the crystal glass half full of red wine accompanied by a lemon and the yellow bowl with two apples and a pear in it.
The painting measures 14 inches by 18 inches overall. The 1 1/2 inch wide unfinished oak frame seems to be practically a requirement with paint by number paintings. There's a wire hanger on the back so it's ready to hang. It's in great condition, practically like new and a wonderful present for your walls.
