This charming young woman is dressed in a red and cream gingham checked dress, muslin pinafore tied in a bow in the back, pantaloons trimmed with cream tatted lace the same as the neck edging on her dress and the finishing touch of black cloth shoes. Her brunette, slightly frizzy hair is knotted in a bun at each side of her head over her embroidered and ink drawn face with pretty blue eyes and a Mona Lisa smile. As you can see in some of the photos, we had a mob cap custom made for her, since she has stains at the top of her forehead. We thought we would give her new family a choice for displaying her with or without. She's jointed at the hips, shoulders and elbows and has sewn fingers. Her body is firmly stuffed, her face not so much. We have not cleaned her, so she has some soil marks, particularly on her hands.

She was hand made by Joyce A. Sheets, a craftswoman who, at the time that she made this doll, lived on a farm called Pleasant Walk. She started a company named Pleasant Walk Folk through which she offered for sale her hand crafted dolls and bears. Mrs. Sheets signed this lovely doll on her back in brown ink: Joyce A. Sheets 1986. She used materials that were authentic, such as mohair and excelsior for her bears and, in the case of her dolls like this one, muslin, gingham, tatted lace and real hair.

This old-fashioned girl is about 20 inches tall, with legs that are 10 inches long from hip to toe tip. She will add warmth, grace and much enjoyment to your home.
