This compote or candy dish was made by the Jeanette Glass Company in Jeanette, Pennsylvania. The pattern is Windsor Diamond, with diamonds and hobnails and a beaded rim. The color, ice blue, was made from 1932 to 1946. It was pressed in a two-part mold without any maker's mark.
This pretty glass piece stands 5 ¼ inches high and measures 6 inches across the top with a 3 ½ inch base. It does have one small chip under the rim, which cannot be seen unless you turn it over. It's in otherwise terrific condition.
We’ve filled the compote with lots of mini beaded fruit, including 4 apples, 3 pears, 3 acorns, 1 plum and 1 pumpkin. You can, of course, display the compote empty and use the fruit elsewhere.
We’ve enjoyed displaying this piece over the years—the fruit gives it a charming folk art look.
