This visually exciting mouth blown crystal vase was made in Poland for Badash Crystal in Deer Park, N.Y. The vase is cased glass, with clear crystal blown over the layer of glowing amber. This created a 1 3/4 inch high sham---the clear base--and a 1/2 inch thick upper rim. The vase is surprisingly heavy, weighing 6 pounds, 10 ounces. It stands 9 1/2 inches tall, and measures 6 inches across/18 inches in circumference at the widest point. The case retains its original clear, oval label that reads: HANDMADE CRYSTAL BADASH POLAND and has Jack Badash's "J. Badash" signature engraved on the bottom.
Jack Badash (1918-2011) opened his second glass business in 1984, after he found that retirement did not suit him. The company imported European crystal such as this vase, and has continued to maintain a reputation for high quality under the leadership of Jack's son Mark. This vase is in excellent condition, the beautiful result of a challenging glass blowing process and a gorgeous, eye-catching piece for your home.
As usual, the white spots are due to light reflections only.
