This lovely jewel of an oil painting in the Impressionist style was done in 1994 by well-known artist Tim Deibler, OPA. OPA is the acronym for Oil Painters of America, a non-profit organization which supports American oil painters through workshops, scholarships and cash awards at juried exhibitions. Deibler has won five Awards of Excellence at the Oil Painters of America's National Juried Shows. He has been featured six times in Southwest Art Magazine, in Plein Air Magazine and in many books. The successful book he authored, "Capturing the Seasons in Oils," led to teaching classes and workshops.
Tim Deibler was born and raised in Oklahoma; after graduating from the Art Institute of Colorado, he was a commercial artist until he became a full-time fine artist in 1992. He painted this work just two years later. In 1999, he and his family moved to Colorado, where he began painting plein air landscapes.
This view of a courtyard is filled with rich color with the straight lines contrasted by the profusion of red roses on the bush by the blue door. Done on board, the sight size is 7 3/8 inches by 5 1/2 inches. The wide mat is made of oatmeal color linen with a beveled edge. The frame is wood, painted with a distressed gold finish and has a beaded edge. It weighs just under 1 1/2 pounds.
The framed measurements are 13 inches by 11 inches. The painting is signed "T. Deibler ©" at lower right, while the back is signed "T. Deibler © 94." There is a sturdy hanging wire installed so the piece is ready to hang. This size work also easily lends itself to display on an easel or stand as well. It weighs just under 1 1/2 pounds. It's in excellent condition, both artwork and frame. While Tim Deibler's large paintings fetch as much as $12,000, his smaller ones are equally wonderful to own and display and, as you can see, far more affordable.
