This handsome original oil painting is a portrait of a fisherman with his calabash pipe. Wearing a brown sou'wester hat and matching jacket, he gazes steadfastly into the distance. His ruddy cheeks and weathered skin attest to a life spent outdoors. With the brim of his hat pushed back, his luxuriant grey hair, mustache and beard frame his face. The painting is artistically pleasing and the old salt sensitively portrayed. It's signed "Nelson" in red on the lower right.
Framed size is 13 1/2 inches wide and 15 1/2 inches top to bottom; the sight size is 7 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches. It weighs about 2 pounds. We had our framer put a new dust paper on the back, along with a hanging wire (hook and nail is included), so it's ready to go. Both wooden frame with its bronze colored inner decorative molding and the painting itself are in excellent condition. The tones of the frame and the art are so complementary. This painting looks great wherever you'd like a rugged yet elegant accent.
