This pretty rodent's proper name is Rattus Norvegicus (brown rat) but we just call her Miss Rattus. She's 27 inches tall and hand made of muslin that has been firmly stuffed with batting and painted chocolate brown and browner. She's wearing a hand smocked Polly Flinders pale yellow dress, size 9 mo.; we washed and pressed her dress, but there are a few stains toward the back and an overall fading and discoloration--but it still looks really cute. Her pantaloons are made of a coarse muslin; they're gathered at her waist and actually form the upper part of her legs. The lower part of her legs are made of fine muslin, stuffed, painted and sewn into the bottoms of the pantaloons. She's wearing pale yellow nylon socks and very scuffed white high top, lace-up old baby shoes with very thin, soft soles. A jaunty cream colored ribbon bow on her right ear completes her outfit, which is exactly as we found her.
This darling doll's condition is very good. Her arms were apparently detached at some point and sewn on rather amateurishly. Nice that they're covered by her dress, but if you can sew or know someone who can, you may want to have them redone at some point. Otherwise, she looks great and as you can see, has tremendous personality.
