Centerpiece Art Glass Blown Bowl Gilded Classic Modernism
This gleaming glass bowl has an inverted atomic shape and a fascinating finish. On the interior of the bowl the color, which appears to have been brushed on, looks silvery. However, on the outside, it's mottled in coppery gold and antique gold and shiny gold interspersed with small clear areas. The bowl was blown in one piece, with an inner rounded bowl suspended inside the outer one. It tapers to the base, a ground and polished circle 5 1/2 inches in diameter. The upper rim is broad and rounded. There are of course no seams and no maker's marks.
Measuring 12 inches across and 6 1/2 inches tall, this piece weighs a very substantial 5 pounds 6 ounces. It's in very nice condition, with a few scratches on the bottom of the interior bowl and a couple of minor chips on the edges of the circular base, where they are unseen. It's a dramatic focal point in any well-appointed room.
