Antique Delinieres Limoges Plate 1894-1900 Mark Signed/Dated
This gorgeous plate was made by Delinieres and Co. in Limoges, France between 1894 and 1900, according to the green mark on the reverse. The plate was hand painted, signed Alder and dated 1910 (also on the reverse). In the Victorian and Edwardian eras it was a common pastime for ladies to hand paint china as a hobby. Women often formed china painting clubs and enjoyed displaying their efforts in their homes. Many china companies sold blanks that were then used by these amateur artists.
The china painter who decorated this 9 inch Limoges plate was talented, choosing lovely colors and capturing all the details of the wild roses, thorns and leaves.
