A dished plate with a gorgeous tricolor glaze treatment, this studio piece was made in the 1980's of creamy stoneware-type clay. It's decorated with a swath of metallic, iridescent copper color; a central spreading glaze of very speckled taupe and an area simply covered with the clear glaze that reveals the clay color. These glazes are carried over to the reverse, with just the foot being dry and the patch where the potter signed in script "Audrey." There is not much information on this potter, but we do know she was working in the 1980's and that her work was carried by high-end retailers.
The plate measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter, 1 1/4 inches high with a foot 6 inches across and weighs 1 1/4 pounds. It's in superb condition and would look great on a wall, a shelf or a table. This is also a handsome gift for someone who loves classic modern décor.
