D. William Scammell bought the Lamberton Works china plant in Trenton, New Jersey, in 1923. They produced some of the highest quality china in the world, including this pair of sculptures designed by Hungarian-born artist Geza de Vegh (1905-1989) and copyrighted by Scammell in 1936.
Both of these statues are in excellent condition with absolutely no post-production damage and barely any shelf wear on the bottoms. They are the epitome of 1930's Art Deco design, sold in high-end stores at high prices when they were first produced and not easily found today, especially both in such outstanding condition. They are a delight for the eye and truly investment works of art.
