This lovely collection of porcelain egg-shaped trinket boxes was made in Limoges, France. Each one has different flowers on the lids and sides (the smallest also has some flowers in the inside bottom) but they all complement each other very nicely. The two larger ones have geometric designs around the rims of the lids and the smallest one has a gilt band.

Each one of these boxes is a different size and made by a different porcelain company in Limoges. We were pleased that all three were marked by the porcelain manufacturers; often we find boxes that are marked simply “Limoges, France” which tells us what city in France they were made in, but nothing else, since there is no company named Limoges. Below is information on each mark and maker. None of the boxes has any condition issues, but all three have “shelf dirt” on their bottoms.

Clockwise in the first photograph:

At top: Marked Philippe Deshoulieres, Porcelaine de Limoges, a copy of the maker’s script signature and France. This company is still in business producing fine dinnerware. Measures 4 ½ inches long, 3 inches high and 4 inches at the widest point.

Center: Marked Porcelaine, Limoges, France and Castel (Castel Porcelain, in business 1944-1980’s). Measures 4 1/4 inches long, 3 inches high and 3 ¼ inches at the widest point.

Bottom Front: Marked LEC (Leclair Porcelain, in business 1946-1987), Limoges, France. Measures 3 inches long, 2 1/4 inches at the widest point and 2 inches tall. This one has flowers painted on the interior bottom of the egg. It is artist signed in fine gilt script on the top at the edge of the flowers: M. Joy.

Given their size and beauty, they make an impressive grouping.
