This wood carving, found in Montana, is a handsome work of art and an example of a master carver’s skill. The fierce expression of our national bird has been captured perfectly. Parts of the bald eagle are painted on, such as the feathers on the head, body and wings, while the rest is carved. The eagle’s talons, which are incredibly lifelike, are perched on a curve of natural branch and the glass eyes are inlaid. The tail feathers and beak are very realistic and well carved.
From the bottom of the branch to the top of his crown is 6 inches, the length of the branch is about 4 ½ inches and it's 6 1/4 inches from the tip of his beak to the tip of his tail feathers. It's unsigned and in outstanding condition.
