This beautiful framed oil painting on canvas, found in Pennsylvania, depicts a rain-washed street in a pretty country town. Done in glowing, soft shades of pastel blue, green and dusty rose, the saltbox house and steepled church transport us back to an earlier time. It's surrounded by a very complementary 2 inch wide wood frame that's painted in a matte dark gold, with a painted inner molding in forest green. The painting was signed by the artist on the lower right: George Sasselman 81.
This lovely impressionist artwork measures 27 inches wide and 23 inches top to bottom. It's in excellent condition, the colors fresh and unfaded and the canvas tight and undamaged. The frame is in good condition, with some nicks to the wood and some wear here and there to the gold paint. We had our framer add a new dust paper on the back, as well as a new coated wire hanging cord (we'll include the wall hanger, as well).
