This charming portrait painting depicts a woman of the Edwardian era gazing soulfully at us with her deep brown eyes. She's wearing a flower-sprigged, high-collared shirtwaist with puffed sleeves, the height of fashion circa 1901. Her black hair is piled into a pompadour that supports her silky black hat that's topped with black feathers. She's set against a shaded, cardinal red background and signed lower right by the artist, Eunice E. Snyder.
Fitted into a gilded frame that's been intentionally "antiqued" with brown glazes, the painting was done on canvas board with acrylic paints. The dust paper on the back is intact and there's a hanging wire already mounted.
This pretty painting measures 17 inches from top to bottom, 14 inches wide and about 1 1/4 inches deep. It weighs 1 1/2 pounds and is in excellent condition, both frame and painting. This is a portrait that can decorate a space on its own, while its nice size and interesting shape also fit wonderfully into a grouping.
