This handsome stoneware table lamp, hand made in the 1970's, is a luscious honey brown color with a speckled, salt glazed surface. The curvy shape is reminiscent of an ovoid crock, complete with a "lid" that supports the bulb socket. Tropical leafy plants are deeply carved on the front and each side (the back is plain). The shade is new, with a rough, woven texture in a cream color that glows when the lamp is lit.
The lamp itself is 11 inches tall to the brass cap on the lid, with the stem and socket, also brass, adding another 4 inches. The shade measures 8 inches across the top, 12 inches across the bottom and 9 inches tall, making the lamp about 20 inches tall with the shade on. The lamp turns on with a knob switch and has a cord about 9 feet long. There is a holder for a harp, but we chose to use an uno shade, which fits down onto the socket and is held in place with the bulb.
To photograph the lamp with the light on, we used an 800 lumens LED light bulb, which is equal to 60 watts. The lamp with shade weighs about 4 pounds. It's in excellent condition, with the worn felt on the bottom the only sign of wear. No cracks, no chips and in good working order, this lamp is a classic back-to-nature, earthy 1970's design.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to variations in lighting, the lamp looks darker in some of our photos. The first of the photos show the color most accurately.
